1. (10) Brandon Jennings, PG

Blogged under Big Bucks News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,General,The Draft Report by alleyoop on Friday 26 June 2009 at 5:36 pm

The Milwaukee Bucks might have made a big mistake in taking 19-year old Brandon Jennings with the 10th pick in the NBA Draft last night. Jennings played overseas last season instead of playing in college in the U.S. Jennings is a very skinny player at 6’1″, 169 pounds but he still has time to add some bulk. Jennings played in 43 games in Italy and in the Euroleague in which he averaged 6.3 points, 1.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.4 steals per game. Don’t look for Jennings to contribute much for the Bucks in 2009-2010 as he was a developmental pick for the future. Still, this was quite a reach for the Bucks.

2. (37) Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, C/F

The Bucks went with size again in the 2nd round last night with the selection of Luc Richard Mbah a Moute out of UCLA. Moute is a strong guy at 6’8″, 230 pounds and he’s a banger whose game is mostly in the confines of the key. Moute played in 107 games (106 starts) at UCLA and he averaged 8.7 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.3 steals per game. He probably won’t get too much playing time as a rookie in 2008-09.

1. (8) Joe Alexander, PF

The Bucks selected 21-year old power forward Joe Alexander in the first round of the NBA Draft last night. The 6’8″, 230 pound Alexander will likely get a lot of minutes backing up Charlie Villanueva in 2008-09. He played in 82 games (70 starts) at West Virginia and he averaged 12.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.2 blocked shots per game. This was a good pick for the Bucks considering that they traded Yi Jianlian last night.

The Milwaukee Bucks acquire forward Richard Jefferson from the Nets

Blogged under Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,General,The Draft Report by alleyoop on Thursday 26 June 2008 at 10:04 pm

The Bucks have acquired small forward Richard Jefferson from the Nets for second year forward Yi Jianlian and forward Bobby Simmons. The 28-year old Jefferson was one of the triplets in New Jersey along with Jason Kidd and Vince Carter and he should fit in well in Milwaukee. Jefferson played in 82 games (all starts) last season in New Jersey and he averaged 39.0 minutes, 22.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. Look for Jefferson to probably be the #2 option in the Bucks’ offense next season behind Michael Redd. Jefferson has now played in 489 games (417 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 35.8 minutes, 17.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. This was a great trade for the Bucks as Yi Jianlian never really wanted to play in Milwaukee anyway and Charlie Villanueva is a better player than he is anyway. Simmons was thrown in the trade to help balance the money.

The Milwaukee Bucks sign first round pick Yi Jianlian

Blogged under Big Bucks News,Bloglockers,Front Page,The Draft Report by alleyoop on Friday 31 August 2007 at 11:10 am

The Bucks have signed rookie forward Yi Jianlian to a multi year contract. Jianlian will have his work cut out for him as he will have to compete with Charlie Villanueva for the starting power forward job. Jianlian also will have to smooth some things over with Bucks fans as he made it clear before and after the draft that he wanted no part of playing for Milwaukee.

The Bucks select point guard Ramon Sessions in the 2nd round

Blogged under Big Bucks News,Bloglockers,Front Page,The Draft Report by alleyoop on Friday 29 June 2007 at 9:50 am

With all of the Bucks’ point guards from last season being free agents the Bucks decided to select Ramon Sessions in the 2nd round with the #56 pick overall in the NBA Draft. The 6’3″, 190 point guard from Nevada is a fallback option as he projects as a backup in the pros. He played in 97 games at Nevada and he averaged 8.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 1.2 steals per game. He also isn’t a great shooter as he’s hit 41.7% from the floor, 31.3% from three point range and 74% from the free throw line.

The Milwaukee Bucks selected Yi Jianlian in the first round

The Bucks selected power forward Yi Jianlian in the first round despite his representation telling them he didn’t want to play in Milwaukee. It will be interesting to see if Yi Jianlian shows up in Milwaukee or forces the Bucks to make a move. The 6’11″, 238 pound forward from China has big-time skills and he would likely team up with Andrew Bogut on the front line and make the Bucks a pretty decent team. He played in 172 games in China and he averaged 18.6 points, 9.6 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.3 blocks per game. Most of his shots come from close range as he made 57% of his shots from the floor, 23.2% from three point range and 78.3% from the free throw line. The Bucks really need Yi Jianlian so hope for the best Bucks fans.
