Tyronn Lue signs with the Milwaukee Bucks

Blogged under Big Bucks News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,General by alleyoop on Saturday 19 July 2008 at 11:19 am

The Bucks have signed guard Tyronn Lue to a 1-year, $2.5 million dollar contract. Lue can handle either the point guard or shooting guard positions for the Bucks but he should be limited to 15-20 minutes per night which is when he is most effective. Lue played in 50 games (3 starts) for the Hawks and Mavericks last season and he averaged 14.7 minutes, 5.8 points, 1.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. The 31-year old Lue should be a solid addition to the Bucks bench as long as they keep his minutes down. Lue has now played in 510 games (173 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 23.6 minutes, 8.9 points, 1.8 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game.

The Milwaukee Bucks sign forward Malik Allen

Blogged under Big Bucks News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,General by alleyoop on Saturday 19 July 2008 at 11:15 am

The Bucks have signed forward Malik Allen. Allen is 6’10″, 255 pounds as he is basically nothing more than a reserve power forward who doesn’t mind throwing his body around. Allen played in 73 games (16 starts) for the Nets & Mavericks last season and he averaged 15.0 minutes, 4.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. Don’t expect Allen to put up numbers much better than that for the Bucks who have a few forwards ahead of Allen on the depth chart. Allen has now played in 360 games (119 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 16.8 minutes, 5.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game. This was a solid signing for the bench of the Bucks.

The Milwaukee Bucks acquire forward Richard Jefferson from the Nets

Blogged under Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,General,The Draft Report by alleyoop on Thursday 26 June 2008 at 10:04 pm

The Bucks have acquired small forward Richard Jefferson from the Nets for second year forward Yi Jianlian and forward Bobby Simmons. The 28-year old Jefferson was one of the triplets in New Jersey along with Jason Kidd and Vince Carter and he should fit in well in Milwaukee. Jefferson played in 82 games (all starts) last season in New Jersey and he averaged 39.0 minutes, 22.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. Look for Jefferson to probably be the #2 option in the Bucks’ offense next season behind Michael Redd. Jefferson has now played in 489 games (417 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 35.8 minutes, 17.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. This was a great trade for the Bucks as Yi Jianlian never really wanted to play in Milwaukee anyway and Charlie Villanueva is a better player than he is anyway. Simmons was thrown in the trade to help balance the money.

Maybe the Milwaukee Bucks should have let Charlie Bell leave

Blogged under Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,Need to step up by alleyoop on Wednesday 5 December 2007 at 8:56 am

Charlie Bell signed an offer sheet with the Miami Heat in the off-season and he flat out told the Bucks not to match it because he wouldn’t play hard for them. That seems to be the case this season as he’s playing awful. He has played in 15 games so far this season and he’s averaging 18.5 minutes, 4.5 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. His shooting was a strength last season but he’s only hitting 28.8% from the floor and he will continue to see his minutes diminish if he doesn’t start shooting better soon. The Bucks should have just let him walk.

The Milwaukee Bucks sign forward Samaki Walker

Blogged under Big Bucks News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page by alleyoop on Saturday 29 September 2007 at 1:15 am

The Bucks have signed Samaki Walker to a 1-year contract. Walker didn’t play in the NBA last season. He has played in 445 games (143 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 17.1 minutes, 5.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. Walker has made 46.2% of his shots from the floor and 63% of his free throws which shows his lack of range.Â

The Milwaukee Bucks let Lynn Greer leave for Greece

Blogged under Big Bucks News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page by alleyoop on Saturday 29 September 2007 at 1:07 am

The Bucks have let second year guard Lynn Greer leave to play in Greece. Greer played in 41 games (0 starts) as a rookie last season for the Bucks and he averaged 10.5 minutes, 4.1 points, 0.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. He shot 43.3% from the floor, 34.6% from three point range and 84.4% from the free throw line last season. The Bucks won’t likely miss Greer too much.

The Milwaukee Bucks sign point guard Royal Ivey

Blogged under Big Bucks News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page by alleyoop on Saturday 29 September 2007 at 12:46 am

The Bucks have signed Royal Ivey to back up Maurice Williams at point guard. Ivey has played in 188 games (89 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 12.4 minutes, 3.4 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. But he hasn’t been a great shooter as he has only hit 43.8% of his shots from the floor, 34.3% of his three point attempts and 70.4% of his free throws.

The Milwaukee Bucks release forward Damir Markota

Blogged under Big Bucks News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page by alleyoop on Tuesday 11 September 2007 at 10:55 am

The Bucks have released forward Damir Markota. Markota played in 30 games (0 starts) as a rookie last season for the Bucks and he averaged 5.7 minutes, 1.7 points, 1.0 rebound and 0.2 assists per game. He also didn’t shoot well hitting only 36.5% from the floor, 37.5% from the three point line and 63.6% from the free throw line. If the Bucks miss him at all they will be in deep trouble next season.

The Milwaukee Bucks sign Desmond Mason

Blogged under Big Bucks News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page by alleyoop on Monday 23 July 2007 at 1:47 pm

The Milwaukee Bucks have signed Desmond Mason to a multi year deal. Mason played in 75 games last year for the Hornets and he averaged 34.3 minutes, 13.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. He is not much of a shooter as he has hit 45.2% of his shots from the floor and 66.3% from the free throw line. Mason is an outstanding finisher in the transition game and that should lead to some easy baskets for the Bucks this season.

Mason has now played in 540 NBA games in his career (306 starts) and he has averaged 31.1 minutes, 12.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. He has shot 44.6% from the floor, 26.3% from three point range and 75.4% from the free throw line over his NBA career. Bringing Mason back to the Bucks was a good move as they are a team in need of more players with athletic ability.

Ersan Ilyasova leaves the Milwaukee Bucks

Blogged under Big Bucks News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page by alleyoop on Monday 23 July 2007 at 8:37 am

Ersan Ilyasova has left the Bucks to play in Spain. He has signed a 3 year, $5 million dollar contract to play in Spain’s professional basketball league. Ilyasova played in 66 games (14 starts) as a rookie for the Bucks and he averaged 14.7 minutes, 6.1 points, 2.9 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game. He didn’t shoot too well as he only hit 38.3% from the floor, 36.5% from three point range and 78.7% from the free throw line. The Bucks shouldn’t miss Ilyasova too much as he didn’t step up when the Bucks needed him to last season.
