The Milwaukee Bucks have acquired 26-year old shooting guard Monta Ellis, 24-year old PF/C Ekpe Udoh and 30-year old center Kwame Brown from the Golden State Warriors for 27-year old center Andrew Bogut and 33-year old SG/SF Stephen Jackson. Monta Ellis will step right in as the Bucks new starting shooting guard. Ellis played in 37 games (all starts) for the Warriors this year and he averaged 36.9 minutes, 21.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game. Ellis has now played in 413 games (334 starts) in his first seven years in the NBA and he is averaging 35.7 minutes, 19.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.7 steals per game. Teaming Ellis with Brandon Jennings will give the Bucks a dynamic offensive backcourt the rest of this year. Ekpe Udoh has a nice upside. He played in 38 games (6 starts) for the Warriors this year and he averaged 21.8 minutes, 5.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, 0.8 assists and 1.7 blocked shots per game. Udoh has now played in 96 games (24 starts) in his first two years in the NBA and he is averaging 19.3 minutes, 4.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, 0.7 assists and 1.6 blocked shots per game. Udoh might eventually be Andrew Bogut’s replacement in the starting lineup, but he’s going to be backing up Ersan Ilyasova and Drew Gooden for now. Kwame Brown played in 9 games (3 starts) for the Warriors this year and he averaged 20.8 minutes, 6.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game. He won’t play for the Bucks the rest of this year due to torn pectoral muscles.
Andrew Bogut just couldn’t stay healthy for the Bucks. He is likely out the rest of this year due to an ankle injury. Bogut played in 12 games (all starts) for the Bucks this year and he averaged 30.3 minutes, 11.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.0 steal and 2.0 blocked shots per game. He played in 408 games (400 starts) in his seven years with the Bucks and he averaged 32.7 minutes, 12.7 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.6 blocked shots per game. Bogut finishes up #4 in Bucks’ history in rebounds with 3,810 of them. He also was #3 in Bucks’ history in blocked shots with 642 of them. Stephen Jackson was a complete bust for the Bucks this year. He played in 26 games (13 starts) for the Bucks this year and he averaged 27.4 minutes, 10.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steal per game. Jackson only shot 35.7% from the floor and 27.8% from three point range for the Bucks this year and that is pathetic. He was in Scott Skiles’ Dog House, so Jackson is no loss for the Bucks.
The Bucks got a nice return for Andrew Bogut, as they seemed to tire of watching him get hurt.
