The Bucks have signed 35-year old shooting guard Jerry Stackhouse to a contract through the end of the year. He played in 10 games (1 start) for the Mavericks last season and he averaged 16.2 minutes, 4.2 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. Stackhouse has now played in 854 games (563 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 33.4 minutes, 18.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.0 steal per game. He is on the downside of his career but this was the type of signing that playoff teams make.

Ersan Ilyasova must have learned some good lessons overseas

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin' Up by alleyoop on Monday 18 January 2010 at 12:43 pm

Ersan Ilyasova played overseas for three seasons after leaving after his rookie year for the Bucks. In 2006-07, Ilyasova played in 66 games (14 starts) for the Bucks in which he averaged 14.7 minutes, 6.1 points, 2.9 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game. But, this season he is playing much better for the Bucks and they hope he keeps up the good work. Ilyasova has played in 38 games (30 starts) for the Bucks this season and he is averaging 24.9 minutes, 11.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game.

Blogged under Blast from the Past,Bloglockers,Front Page,General by alleyoop on Sunday 17 January 2010 at 5:58 pm

Guard Sidney Moncrief was one of the best players in Bucks’ history. He played in 695 games in his career with the Bucks averaging 31.7 minutes, 16.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.3 steals per game. Moncrief is all over the record books for the Bucks. He is #2 all-time in games (695), #2 in minutes played (22,054), #3 in point scored (11,594), #6 in rebounds (3,447), #2 in assists (2,689) and #3 in steals (874). Moncrief was a fun player to watch and he will be in the record books for quite some time in the future for the Bucks.

The Milwaukee Bucks need more from Charlie Bell

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Need to step up by alleyoop on Monday 11 January 2010 at 6:22 pm

The Bucks will likely move Charlie Bell into the starting line-up with Michael Redd done for the year. Bell has played in 32 games (15 starts) this year for the Bucks and he is averaging 25.3 minutes, 6.9 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. Bell likely won’t be in the starting line-up very long unless his shot starts to improve as he is shooting 37.9% from the floor this year.

The Milwaukee Bucks lose Michael Redd for the year

Blogged under Big Bucks News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injuries by alleyoop on Monday 11 January 2010 at 6:20 pm

The Bucks have lost 30-year old shooting guard Michael Redd for the year due to a torn left ACL+MCL. Redd played in 18 games (12 starts) for the Bucks this season and he averaged 27.3 minutes, 11.9 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.1 steals. Redd never seemed really right this season as he only shot 35.2% form the floor this year. Redd’s career could be in jeopardy due to this injury and that is a shame because he is such a talented basketball player. Redd has played in 568 games (427 starts) so far in his NBA career and he is averaging 33.8 minutes, 20.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.0 steal per game. The bottom line is that the Bucks will miss Michael Redd a lot the rest of the year.

The Milwaukee Bucks are happy with their rookies

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Rookie Reports by alleyoop on Thursday 7 January 2010 at 10:31 am

Starting point guard Brandon Jennings has been really good this season for the Bucks. He has played in 32 games (all starts) for the Bucks so far this season and he is averaging 34.6 minutes, 19.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 1.1 steals per game. It’s weird to see but he is shooting better from three point range (40.3%) than the floor (40.2%). He does need to improve his shot selection the rest of the way if he has plans on winning the Rookie of the Year Award because Tyreke Evans is putting up great numbers in Sacramento. SG Jodie Meeks is only shooting 36.1% from the floor this year and that’s why he’s not getting too much playing time. He has played in 26 games (0 starts) for the Bucks this season and he is averaging 13.1 minutes, 4.5 points, 1.8 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game.

The Milwaukee Bucks waive Roko Ukic

Blogged under Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,General by alleyoop on Tuesday 5 January 2010 at 12:14 pm

The Bucks have waived 25-year old point guard Roko Ukic who requested it due to his lack of playing time this season. Ukic played in 13 games (0 starts) for the Bucks this season and he averaged 7.5 minutes, 3.1 points, 0.2 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game. This will be no loss for the Bucks as Ukic just wasn’t that good of a player.

The Milwaukee Bucks need Carlos Delfino to start shooting better

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Need to step up by alleyoop on Saturday 2 January 2010 at 11:41 pm

If 27-year old small forward Carlos Delfino doesn’t start shooting better soon the Bucks should cut his minutes. He has played in 28 games (27 starts) for the Bucks this season and he is averaging 25.6 minutes, 8.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. Delfino is only shooting 37.7% from the floor and that just will not get the job done for a small forward in the NBA.
