The Milwaukee Bucks’ draft class is looking great so far this season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Rookie Reports by alleyoop on Monday 16 November 2009 at 5:21 pm

Many “experts” blasted the Bucks for drafting 20-year old point guard Brandon Jennings who played last season in pro ball overseas. But, he has been outstanding so far this season for the Bucks. He has played in 7 games (all starts) for the Bucks this season and he is averaging 33.9 minutes, 25.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.1 steals per game. Jennings has even dropped 55 points recently in a game as his upside is scary high. 22-year old shooting guard Jodie Meeks comes off of the bench firing. Meeks has played in 5 games (0 starts) for the Bucks this season and he is averaging 15.6 minutes, 7.0 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game.

The Bucks shot 52.7% from the floor and they outrebounded the Warriors 46-31 last night and those were two big reasons for the win last night. But the biggest reason for the victory last night for the Bucks was the play of rookie point guard Brandon Jennings. Jennings scored 55 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and he dished out 5 assists last night. He shot 21 of 34 from the floor and he nailed 7 of 8 shots from three point range. Andrew Bogut also had a solid game against the Warriors last night finishing with 19 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists. Charlie Bell also had one of his better games of the year with 14 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists. The Bucks are now 5-2 on the year.

Ersan Ilyasova also had one of his best games of his career finishing with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 1 assist in only 21 minutes off the bench. The Bucks are now 4-2 on the season after their third victory in a row.

The Bucks exploded last night as they built a 66-35 halftime lead over the Knicks before cruising in the second half to a very easy victory. The Bucks really wanted this game as they brought a huge effort especially on the boards where they had a 54-34 edge over the Knicks. Andrew Bogut led the way for the Bucks in this game with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Rookies Jodie Meeks (19 points and 3 rebounds in 27 minutes) and Brandon Jennings (17 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists) were also very, very effective for the Bucks last night. The Bucks are now a very surprising 3-2 on the year.

Milwaukee Bucks 81, Chicago Bulls 83

The Milwaukee Bucks (1-2) blew an 18 point lead in the 3rd quarter and ended up losing to the Chicago Bulls (2-2).  The Bucks were outrebounded by the Bulls 53-44 and they let the Bulls SF Luol Deng get every rebound he wanted, totaling 20 for the game.  Brandon Jennings had a good game and did very well against one of the top PG’s in the league, and last year’s Rookie of the Year Derrick Rose.  Jennings finished with 25 points, 4 assists, 2 steals, and 1 rebound while Rose finished with 15 points, 5 assists, and 5 turnovers.  Hakim Warrick struggled from the field, going 5-15 and finishing with 10 points.  The Bucks had 12 shots blocked in this one…have they heard of a pump fake before?  Scott Skiles cannot be happy with how this game ended up and I am sure he is not happy with the Bucks final shot.  Ersan Ilyasova was stared down by Skiles after taking a step back air-ball three pointer with time still on the clock to end the Bucks chances.  The Bucks need to learn how to hold on to a lead.

Hakim Warrick is off to a fast start for the Milwaukee Bucks

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin' Up by alleyoop on Tuesday 3 November 2009 at 8:48 pm

Hakim Warrick is averaging 26.0 minutes per game off the bench so far this season. In those 26 minutes, Warrick is averaging 15.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steal per game. With Michael Redd out of action for a while due to injury the Bucks would be smart to move Warrick into the starting lineup to help the offense. Warrick owes his agent who picked the perfect team for him to sign with and the Bucks couldn’t be more happy with him.

The Milwaukee Bucks lose Michael Redd for a while

Blogged under Big Bucks News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injuries by alleyoop on Monday 2 November 2009 at 4:28 pm

The Bucks will be without Michael Redd for the next two weeks due to pain in his surgically repaired left knee. Redd has played in 2 games for the Bucks this season and he has averaged 31.0 minutes, 13.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.5 steals per game. Charlie Bell, Carlos Delfino and rookie Jodie Meeks will all likely see increased playing time while Redd is out of action. Bell has played in 2 games (0 starts) this season for the Bucks and he has averaged 28.0 minutes, 5.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game. Carlos Delfino has played in 1 game this season for the Bucks and he worked 20 minutes scoring 5 points, grabbing 3 rebounds and he had 1 assist. Meeks has not played yet this season for the Bucks. Losing Redd is a major blow to the Bucks that they won’t be able to recover from. They better hope his knee responds to rest.

Milwaukee Bucks 96, Detroit Pistons 85

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by alleyoop on Sunday 1 November 2009 at 8:53 am

The Bucks outscored the Pistons 36-14 in the third quarter last night and they outrebounded the Pistons 45-37 and those were the two big reasons for the win in the home opener last night. Brandon Jennings had a outstanding game to lead the way for the Bucks in this game with 24 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. Hakim Warrick provided a lot of offense off the bench for the Bucks last night as he finished up with 21 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. The Bucks didn’t have any other players with double figures in points in this game. They still improve to 1-1 on the season with this nice win over the Pistons.
