The rookies of the Milwaukee Bucks earn a C-

I have mistakenly reported that Ersan Ilyasova was a rookie even though he was drafted in 2005. With that in mind, the Bucks rookie class was not that impressive. Forward David Noel played in 68 games this season and he averaged 11.6 minutes, 2.7 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game. Point guard Lynn Greer played in 41 games this season and he averaged 10.5 minutes, 4.1 points, 0.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. Forward Damir Markota played in 30 games this season and he averaged 5.7 minutes, 1.7 points, 1.0 rebound and 0.2 assists per game. Markota only shot 36.5% from the floor. Greer looks like he could be a decent backup point guard in the future for the Bucks and the other two guys will probably be players that are set up low on the Bucks depth chart.

The Milwaukee Bucks finished the season in last place in the Central Division with a 28-54 record, 25 games behind the Pistons. The Bucks were 18-23 at home this season, but only 10-31 on the road. The Bucks were a pathetic 16-31 against the weak Eastern Conference and only 1-15 against teams in the Central Division. The Bucks averaged 99.7 points per game and gave up an awful 104.7 points per game. The Bucks limped down the stretch only winning 3 of their last 10 games of the season.

The Milwaukee Bucks need rookie Ersan Ilyasova to step up

With all of the injuries the Bucks have suffered they are giving Ersan Ilyasova some big minutes, now they need him to produce. In April, Ilyasova has played in 7 games and he’s averaged 8.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game. He’s only shooting 37.7% from the floor and he’s 6 for 21 (28.6%) from three-point range.Â

Ruben Patterson stepping up for the Milwaukee Bucks

Lost in the rash of injuries the Bucks have suffered is how well Ruben Patterson has played the last couple of weeks. In his last 8 games, Patterson has averaged 17.1 points, 6.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.8 steals per game. He also is shooting an impressive 52.4% from the floor in those games. Patterson has always been a decent player but he’s really playing well now that the Bucks are looking to him for offense.

The Milwaukee Bucks decide to shut down Michael Redd for the remainder of the season

Michael Redd will miss the remainder of the season after aggravating his left knee injury. This is just the latest blow for the Bucks this season as they stagger to the finish line. Redd only played in 53 games this season and he averaged 38.5 minutes, 26.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.2 steals per game. The Bucks made a smart move in shutting Redd down because he’s the centerpiece of this franchise.
