Centers

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Saturday 11 November 2006 at 8:36 pm

Adrew Bogut will slide back to the center position after starting last season at power forward. Bogut is a more natural player at center and he has good NBA skills for the position. Bogut averaged 9.4 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game as a rookie.

Dan Gazduric will be the back-up for the Bucks. Gazduric has averaged 5.6 points, 5.2 assists and 1.1 blocks per game over his career. Dan is a good back-up center that brings alot of energy to the court every night.

Small Forwards

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Saturday 11 November 2006 at 8:31 pm

Ruben Patterson will be the starter for at least the first month of the season while Bobby Simmons recovers from an inury. Patterson is a good shooter that has hit 51.2% of his FGs over his career. Patterson has been a back-up for most of his career as he has averaged only 23.9 minutes per game. He has averaged 10.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.1 steals per game over his career. Patterson should be a good contributor for the Bucks.

Bobby Simmons will be the starter when he returns to the active roster. The Bucks expected more from him than what they got which was 13.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game last season. Simmons had been a back-up until two seasons ago when he had the best year of his career. Simmons is a good 3-point shooter (40.7% for career) that stretches the defense. Bobby has averaged 10.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game over his career.

Rookie second round pick David Noel of North Carolina will have a shot to get some playing time because he’s a good defender that can hit the open jump shot.

Bucks fade in 4th quarter and lose 116-111 to the Wizards

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Saturday 11 November 2006 at 11:20 am

The Bucks were flying high after three quarters with a 85-76 lead, but the Wizards out-scored them 40-26 in the 4th quarter and the Bucks lost. Michael Redd did his part with 28 points, 3 rebounds & 6 assists. Charlie Villanueva was solid with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Andrew Bogut (15 points, 5 rebounds) & Dan Gazduric (15 points & 8 rebounds) gave the Bucks a huge advantage at center over the Wizards. PG Maurice Williams scored 12 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out 4 assists.

This was a tough loss for the Bucks that dropped them to 2-4 on the season.

Bucks lose 97-93 to Rockets

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Thursday 9 November 2006 at 2:16 am

The Bucks slept walked through the first three quarters as the Rockets built a 76-59 lead. Something clicked in the 4th quarter and the Bucks actually made a game of it. Michael Redd was awesome with 34 points. Charlie Bell came off of the bench firing as he scored 22 points, grabbed 3 rebounds and dished out 5 assists. Reserve center Dan Gazduric played a good game scoring 5 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.

If the Bucks would have played one good quarter in the first 3, they could have won this game.

The Bucks get thrashed 110-85 by Bulls

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 7 November 2006 at 3:53 pm

The Bucks forgot they had a game last night and the Bulls totally destroyed them! The Bucks didn’t play any defense and allowed the Bucks to hit 54.1% of their shots. The Bucks also got pounded on the boards 44-33! Michael Redd came to play as he scored 30 points to lead the Bucks. Charlie Villanueva had another solid game with 17 points, 13 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. Ruben Patterson was the only other Bucks player in double figures with 10 points.

Power Forwards

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Monday 6 November 2006 at 12:02 pm

The Bucks traded TJ Ford to the Raptors for their new starting power forward, Charlie Villanueva. Villanueva had a solid rookie season, averaging 13.0 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. Look for Villanueva to improve on those numbers, because he will play more than the 29.1 minutes per game that he played last season. This was a steal for the Bucks as long as they keep the big guy motivated to play every night.

Brian Skinner will be the back-up and he fits in nicely with the Bucks. Skinner is a great rebounder that will help the Bucks because he doesn’t need the basketball and is content to rebound & play good defense. Skinner has averaged only 18.7 minutes per game, but he makes them count with 5.2 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.

Bucks shoot well and beat the Kings 104-91

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Sunday 5 November 2006 at 9:55 am

The Bucks shot 52.8% from the field and played good defense to lead their way to victory. The starting five scored 97 of the Bucks 104 points on Saturday!  Michael Redd led the way pouring in 26 points. Charlie Villanueva had another good game with 25 points & 7 rebounds. Center Andrew Bogut also played well with 21 points & 8 rebounds. PG Maurice Williams directed the offensive attack well, scoring 15 points, snatching 6 rebounds and dishing out 12 assists. Ruben Patterson added 10 points.

Bucks blasted by Raptors 109-92

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Saturday 4 November 2006 at 2:31 am

The Bucks played horrible defense on Friday night and it showed on the scoreboard. The Raptors shot 53.4% from the field as a team. Charlie Villanueva scored 17 points & grabbed 11 rebounds against the team he played for as a rookie last season. Andrew Bogut scored 18 points & grabbed 7 rebounds. Michael Redd & Maurice Williams each pitched in with 15 points apiece.

Looks like the Bucks blew their wad against the Pistons.

Bucks beat Pistons on the road 105-97

Michael Redd was on fire last night in Detroit as he went 14-22 from the floor and scored 37 points. Charlie Villanueva played a good game in his debut with the Bucks, scoring 16 points, grabbing 12 rebounds, dishing out 4 assists and stole the ball 4 times. Andrew Bogut returned much earlier than expected from his leg injury and scored 16 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Charlie Bell and Ruben Patterson each stole the ball three times from Pistons players.

This is an outstanding win for the Bucks in a tough environment.

Shooting Guards

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Thursday 2 November 2006 at 4:35 pm

Michael Redd is a fantastic basketball player. Redd really had a breakout season last year, averaging 25.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. Redd is a great offensive player that can create his own shot and he’s a left-handed shooter, which causes problems for defenders that don’t see that too often. Redd is a great shooter that stretches the opponents defense, as he has hit 39.4% of his career three pointers. Redd has nailed 45.1% of his FGs and 85.5% of his free-throws. For his career, Redd has averaged 19.3 rebounds, 4.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals per game.

Charlie Bell is the back-up to Redd. He was signed as an after-thought last year before camp and earned his way into the playing rotation. Bell is a great shooter that has hit 40.8% of his career three-pointers. Bell has averaged 7.6 points, 1.9 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 0.9 steals per game in only 20.1 minutes per game. Bell also can play point guard in a pinch for the Bucks.
